The Shed 14/03/2008

“I’m so tired, my mind is on the blink”

Maybe, one day, we’ll actually manage to space our gigs out more evenly. After playing at The Sun the other night, we were back in the cellar bar in The Shed. It was one of the quarter finals of The Shed’s acoustic championship and with Stu otherwise engaged, it was left to Ant and I to uphold the pride of the band.

After rocking up to the venue about half an hour late, we were told that we’d be going on last. We’re pretty used to that and we showed that late nights are no bar to us getting through to the semi-final.

We weren’t great to be fair and if anything,I think that we got through by virtue of the fact that nobody else was amazing either. For example, who was that Spoon guy? Who takes their own PA system to an acoustic competition? Especially when you’re not that great a singer.

Oh, and for the couple that played it, Hallelujah was written by Leonard Cohen not Jeff Buckley…

Anyway, for those keeping score, this should set us in good stead for the home leg:

You Come Around
I’ll Get By
It’s In The Air
Everything I Do
It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll
While You Wait

Ah, we do love playing It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll. Mainly because we haven’t quite figured out how it ends yet so we can just stretch it out as long as we like. Oh, and despite the percussion mishap the other night, we still handed it out here for While You Wait.

Bring on the semi-final!
