“How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice man, practice”
With Sarah on holiday in New York, it was left to Ant and myself to head down to The Shed in Leicester and hold the fort. However, it did give us the opportunity to unleash a blast from the past in I Don’t Know Why I Love You Like I Do. Other that that, the set list was pretty much the same one that we’d been playing for the last couple of months:
On Top Of The World
I Don’t Know Why I Love You Like I Do
All I Want
Sasha Don’t Look So Blue
She’s His Girlfriend
I’ll Get By
While You Wait
Obviously, the biggest challenge was the fact that I had to sing lead vocals on While You Wait for the first time in a very long time. Fortunately, I was just about able to drag the memory of the lyrics from somewhere in the back of my head and I managed to muddle through it.
The whole set went down really well though and we even had the bonus of going on early when the band who were due on before us couldn’t get their bassist to the venue on time. Fortunately, they didn’t seem to have heard of The White Stripes? So, a great gig AND finished before midnight? Double bubble!
