Hayfever

I once loved a girl
She was as beautiful as a summer’s morn
Her eyes would watch the clouds and stars
Hang above us in the fields of corn

But then one day I sneezed
And my eyes became itchy and sore
And I found I couldn’t lie beside her
In the fields no more

Cos it’s hayfever early in the morning
Hayfever all through the night
Hay just gives me fever
And I, well I just don’t feel right

I used to love the summer playing in the pastures
Chasing the birds away
Climbin’ trees and splashin’ round
In the river all holiday

Now when summer comes I have to stay
Locked up in doors
And that girl, well she don’t come
Round here no more

Cos it’s hayfever early in the morning
Hayfever all through the night
Hay just gives me fever
And I, well I just don’t feel right

It wasn’t long after
She said we shouldn’t see each other no more
Then I learn you been seen in the meadow
With the boy next door

Now if you see me round town
With red red eyes
May be cos hayfever
Or maybe that girl’s gonna make me cry

Cos it’s hayfever early in the morning
Hayfever all through the night
Hay just gives me fever
And I, well I just don’t feel right

Cos it’s hayfever early in the morning
Hayfever all through the night
Hay just gives me fever
And I, well I just don’t feel right
